The Senior Accountant supports the school's financial operations by performing advanced accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards. This position ensures accurate stewardship of institutional, governmental, grant, and restricted funds while supporting audits, year end reporting, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
- Prepare, analyze, and review complex financial statements, reports, forecasts, and reconciliations across multiple funds (state, grants, restricted, auxiliary).
- Maintain accounting records and post advanced journal entries and adjustments in compliance with GAAP and GASB.
- Support annual financial statements, audits, and the Annual Financial Report; serve as a key audit contact.
- Monitor regulatory compliance and apply authoritative accounting guidance.
- Develop financial analyses, projections, and variance reports to support planning and decision making.
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting systems.
- Provide grant and foundation accounting support.
- Collaborate with departments, leadership, auditors, and external agencies.
- Utilize ERP systems to ensure data integrity and accurate reporting.
- May provide functional guidance or supervision to accounting staff.
