Job Description

Our client in western Lancaster County is in need of an experienced Purchasing Agent for their steel manufacturing business!  This is a permanent placement opportunity paying $70k-$90k!

Responsibilities for the Purchasing Agent include:

 

  • Sourcing and Procurement:

    • Identify and evaluate suppliers for  materials.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
    • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and resolve issues promptly.

  • Inventory and Demand Management:

    • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to forecast material requirements.
    • Place orders to meet project timelines while avoiding overstock or material shortages.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of purchase orders, invoices, and delivery schedules.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Inspect incoming materials for compliance with specifications and quality standards.
    • Collaborate with quality control teams to address material discrepancies or defects.

Job Requirements

 

 

Qualifications for the Purchasing Agent include:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

 

  • Experience:
    • 2 years of purchasing or procurement experience in the manufacturing industry.
    • Familiarity with heavy steel materials, grades, and specifications.

 

  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
    • Analytical skills for market and pricing analysis.
    • Attention to detail and ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
