Job Description

Our client in western Lancaster County is in need of an experienced Purchasing Agent for their steel manufacturing business! This is a permanent placement opportunity paying $70k-$90k!

Responsibilities for the Purchasing Agent include:

Sourcing and Procurement:
- Identify and evaluate suppliers for materials.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and resolve issues promptly.
Inventory and Demand Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to forecast material requirements.
- Place orders to meet project timelines while avoiding overstock or material shortages.
- Ensure accurate documentation of purchase orders, invoices, and delivery schedules.
Quality Assurance:
- Inspect incoming materials for compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to address material discrepancies or defects.

Job Requirements

Qualifications for the Purchasing Agent include:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

Experience:
- 2 years of purchasing or procurement experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with heavy steel materials, grades, and specifications.

Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
- Analytical skills for market and pricing analysis.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
